Dog Movie

Since I am waiting on the pictures to arrive (they were taken on Grandpa’s camera) to write about Christmas; I decided to give y’all something to watch. I made a dog movie!  It was a bit frustrating at first but I think I got it down!  I tried to put it at a lower resolution so there wouldn’t be issues watching it.  It is restricted due to my music (no bad language though) but I decided it fits too well to change it-the link works to take you to youtube.

Christmas Updates…

will be coming soon!  Computer has crashed but I will let you know if Santa came to the girls soon.

Raw Meaty Bones

So, I’m sure some readers might be sickened by the thought of today’s post…but hang in here!  I had decided to try and clean the girls’ teeth with some raw meaty bones. The action of gnawing and chewing is supposed to help clean their teeth. I’m pretty sure Bella had a dental with her spay this year but her breath stinks and I wanted to see if this could help. Plus, she already has tartar build up!

So, I got halved frozen pig feet.   They are super cheap which is great too!  I put Bella’s down in her food bowl to give her the idea it was food. I was worried if she’d chew because she can be so picky about eating things like trachea and bully sticks sometimes. Well, I did NOT have to worry about that girl!  She pulled it out of her bowl, onto the towel and ate like a champ!  She didn’t need any encouragement or direction.  She did not want me to take it away either! I let her eat half but took it away just to make sure it didn’t give her diarrhea.  It is the first treat or food she has ever showed enough interest in to try and snatch it from me! No growling or anything and I gave her some Zukes Salmon treats for giving up her foot.

Daisy was a whole different story. I put her out on the balcony because I knew she couldn’t lay in one place like on a towel.  I think she knew it was food but she looked confused. She licked it, and wagged her tail at me, she smelled it, then wagged her tail at me, then licked it a bit more.  She looked very happy…but kinda like “Oh! a  present! Yay!  Um, what do I do with it?”  After a little encouragement she laid down and went to town. She is actually a faster chewer than Bella.

Letters to Santa..

Hey Santa,

Sorry I didn’t write yesterday, I was a little busy guarding the balcony from the squirrels.  Then I had to take a couple naps.  I’m really a great coonhound!  I bay at the squirrels and try to chase the cats; I can reach my own treats in the table when I want them…oh wait, um..  I’m sorry!  I really do try to be a good girl!  It’s my nose! It’s a curse I tell you!  I was trying to play with the squirrels, yeah, that’s it!  And I was just making sure Mom’s bike was working-that’s why I chewed on her pedal!

So, I guess I won’t be getting anything from you Santa.  I don’t think it’s fair we have to be good all year!  I can be good for like 10 whole minutes; shouldn’t that count?!?  If I could make a list I’d put treats, and squeaky toys, and treats, and squeaky toys, and maybe something fun to put my food in, and treats….wait, I think I said that one already.

Please forgive me Santa,

Your delightfully playful Coonhound Daisy

A quick note from Mom:

Santa, both of the girls have been very good this year. Bella has grown up so much and I am so proud.  Daisy might get into things a bit, but she keeps me laughing and that is good enough for me!  I hope you remember them on your trip this year.

Letters to Santa…

Dearest Santa,

Bella here.  I want you to know I have tried to be a very good girl this year. I’m sorry for running away that one day that scared Mom and for being sick on the carpet twice. I promise I didn’t mean it!  I have been a very good girl since Mom brought me home.  When I got here I didn’t really didn’t know what I wanted-everything scared me but Mom and Daisy have been working to find things that I like.

So Santa, if you have a little room in your sleigh for some gifts for me I would really appreciate it.  If I’m allowed to ask for things then I’d like some yummy treats to chew on, and some pretty collars to wear when I get to go special places. I promise  I won’t get them dirty!  I’ve also been thinking that perhaps I could try having my own squeaky toy. But if you can’t do this, I’ll understand. I’m happy just to hang out here in my new home!

Thank you,

The Sweetest Bluetick Bella

Daisy has worms….

I guess it’s inevitable given our dog park frequency.  I was sooo excited yesterday becuase I took her outside for what I thought would be a pee break and she ended up pooping. Oh joyous day!  She actually pooped on a leash.  I had to go back home to get poop backs because I don’t carry them with Daisy. I was sooo happy and thinking my girl was growing up.

Well, I took them for a walk in the park and Daisy started having bloody diarrhea.  Poor girl. She acts fine-don’t tell her she’s sick cause she’s not going to believe you.

Went to the vet this morning and she has whipworms. They suggested switching from Heartguard to Interceptor. Right now, I have a lot of Heartguard left so we’ll stick with that for a bit.  I also worry about switching products. The only time I ever tried a different med with a dog it ended up with heartworms. I know I did what I was supposed to but it worries me that a drug I don’t trust or know might end up hurting the girls even if it prevents more types of worms.

Thanks Grannie for the eucalyptus and rosemary soap. The girls smell great and their coats are soft and shiny!

Christmas Tree

I don’t really have a Christmas tree this year. There just isn’t room for it in my apartment. So, Grannie decided to get the girls their own tree. It is a foot tall and lights up with batteries and twirls back and forth. Bella hates it if it is on. Daisy at first though the ornaments were dog cookies. LOL It really is a cute tree.

Even Hot Dogs Can’t Save You

So, do y’all remember the post about Daisy fainting at the vet’s office?  Where she just fell straight over like the fainting goats?  Here’s the link to relive old memories Fainting Daisy Story

Well, during our picture experience Bella decided that Daisy shouldn’t have all the fun.  I was trying to get a picture of Bella on the tree skirt and next to my angel tree topper.  She didn’t really like the angel too much sitting next to her. So, in the picture below you can see how close to a good picture we could get.  She is still leaning away from the little person with wings. The one to the left is right after the angel fell over in the grass.  Bella fainted right next to the angel!  The picture is me trying to shove hot dogs in her face to make her think what just happened was supposed to happen and all was right with the world. She didn’t believe me of course; not that I could blame her since all three of use were laughing so hard at her.  She was able to take a break from having her picture taken after that and we worked with Daisy for a bit.

I don't like it!

Wordless Wednesday

OK, so there might be some words…. I’m sure everyone has seen this cat video, but whoever decided to add this bit of commentary bumped the funny factor up quite a bit.

Cold Weather Willies

Posted on

So the cold weather has finally hit out area and its has certainly caused the girls to act a little funny.  Mostly they are wimps. They shiver when its 68 in my house.  I’m glad it doesn’t snow here!

Today they decided to go crazy at the dog park.  Daisy started by chasing seagulls. I’m not sure why she thinks she can catch them, but I just laugh and don’t ruin her fun.  Then someone came in with a squeaky ball.  Worse, it was a puppy!  Well, Daisy was on that ball like white on rice.  I was so worried and I tried to get the ball and give it back to the man and tell him Daisy would destroy it. He didn’t care.

Well, about that time several other dogs showed up. It was a squeaky ball free for all!  One of the guys had another squeaky ball he went and got out of his car.  Daisy and a few of the dogs ran, and ran, and ran for the squeakies.  Daisy didn’t resource guard once!  Yay! She has laid down and put her paws and head over the ball and growled really low at other dogs one other time. Since then, I’ve been careful about avoiding squeakies at the dog park.  She even let some guy come and get the ball from her to be thrown again. She had a great time!  She came home, ate dinner, and walked straight to her crate and put herself to bed for the night! I have never seen her run so hard for so long, we were there over an hour with her almost constantly running.

While that was going on Bella was hanging around too. When we first got there, I almost went to put her in the car. She was shivering sooo hard!  Our high was 53 today, nothing extreme.  She seemed to really like one of the other dogs that came in and started running around a bit. She’d do her grass rolling thing, then try to chase another dog or two.  She really started trying to get involved when the dogs were bringing the squeaky toys back.  Then this little black fluff puff puppy came in and Bella took off!  She play bowed and wrestled. I don’t mean a little paw slap-I mean full n wrestle, pinning the dog on the ground and chasing and going crazy!  She would pin the puppy a second, then jump off in a play bow wagging her tail like “hurry get up so we can go again!” I am sure the other owners didn’t understand why I was laughing and clapping and so happy. It was the first time Bella has all out wrestled another dog and let them jump on her without it making her unhappy.  It was such a great day!

I get 'Crazy Eyes' when I get a squeaky toy!
